Rev. Toney has been our pastor since 1993.  Born in Milwaukee Wisconsin to the parents of Elijah and Mary Toney, Rev. Toney entered the ministry in September 1976 as an associate minister of the Greater Galilee Baptist Church.   At Morehouse Rev. Toney majored in Religion with a minor in Psychology.  He graduated cum laude with a BA in Religion in 1985.  While in Atlanta Rev. Toney united with the Antioch Baptist Church North under the pastorate of Dr. C.M. Alexander.  He served as an associate minister until his call to the pastorate at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Thomson, Georgia in October 1985.

Rev. Toney moved to Thomson Georgia to begin his pastorate and to faithfully serve the members of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church as well as people of the Thomson community.  In addition to the responsibilities of pastoring Rev. Toney served as:

  • Coordinator for the 10th District Youth Convention,
  • President of the 10th District Congress of Christian Education,
  • Vice President of the McDuffie County Minister's Alliance
  • Founder and President of Manna Ministries
  • President of the local chapter of the NAACP
  • President of the McDuffie County Health Coalition

In his first year as pastor, Rev. Toney met and married the love of his life, Patricia Grant, who became his partner for life.  They became a team that together raised four children, Jason, LaTai, Ronald, and Erika.

During his time as pastor Rev. Toney furthered his study at Interdenominational Theological Center and Columbia Theological Seminary, both in Atlanta.

In 1993, after eight years as pastor at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Rev. Toney accepted the call to pastor Lizzie Chapel Baptist Church.  He quickly established himself as a man of vision with a passionate love for church and community and has rendered committed service to the entire Macon, GA community.

Rev. Toney has served:

  • Board of directors, Bibb County Citizens Advocacy;
  • Board member, Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council, (EOC);

He presently serves as:

We are grateful for the passion Rev. Toney brings to the pulpit each.  We are also excited about the vision he brings to church and community, and blessed by the unconditional love he brings to the work and to the people of God.
