Pastor's Wife


Dr. Patricia Lamar Toney is a native of Thomson, Georgia. Her parents are the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Blondell Lamar. Dr. Toney is a graduate of Spelman College. After leaving Spelman she earned a Master of Education Degree (M.Ed) from Georgia College, and an Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) from Georgia State University. She worked as an educator for 34 years. During that time she was employed as a classroom teacher, library media specialist, assistant principal, special education director, and assistant superintendent. As she worked with children in these various roles, Dr. Toney also welcomed opportunities to assist in meeting their social, economic, and spiritual needs.

Dr. Toney accepted Christ in 1984 and began to work more fervently for God at Springfield Baptist Church. In 1985, she met Rev. Ronald Toney. In May 1986, they were married and began a life of service together at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Thomson, Georgia. Then in 1993, God called them to Lizzie Chapel where she serves in the following ministries:

  • Baptism and Communion Support
  • Coordinator of Education Ministry
  • Sunday School Teacher

Dr. Toney takes a special interest in young mothers and seeks opportunities to aide them in various ways.

  • Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
  • Georgia Association of Educators (GAE)
  • Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society

  • Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE)

Very dear to Dr. Toney are her husband, children, grandchildren, and their entire family. Her greatest desire is to please God through a life of obedience and service.
